Objectives and scope of activity

Overall objectives:

� scientific research in the area of medical assessment and rehabilitation;

� development of recommendations for organisational improvement of medical assessment and rehabilitation system in Belarus;

� medical assessment of health condition and disability;

� the in-hospital rehabilitation of patients at the early and later stages of disease and trauma;

� medical examination of patient for diagnostic purposes;

� organizational, information and methodological support to health authorities regarding various issues of medical assessment and rehabilitation and introduction of new approaches and technologies in this field.

Tasks:

� Analysis of the latest national and international achievements and development of new methods and technologies in the field of medical and social assessment of disability;

� prevention and elimination of undesirable consequences of diseases and trauma;

� maximum reconstitution of impaired body functions to reduce activity limitations of diseased and disabled patients;

� cooperation and interaction with relevant authorities in the other countries working in the field of medical assessment and rehabilitation;

� introduction of the latest techniques for testing and medical rehabilitation of patients;

� graduate and post-graduate training and improvement of qualification of researchers and doctors working in the field of medical assessment and rehabilitation;

� innovation and patenting activities in the fields related to medical assessment and rehabilitation;

� development of new equipment, software, devices and systems for medical rehabilitation;

� coordination of nation-wide research work in the area of medical assessment and rehabilitation in Belarus;

� specialized diagnosis and expert assessment of patients in difficult and arguable cases related to disability? provision of consultation and advice to such patients;

� provision of information and documents to other healthcare institutions and authorities on their request;

� pilot testing of new technologies for diagnostics and rehabilitation;

� provision of other medical services to Belarussian and foreign citizens on commercial basis;

� monitoring and analysis of data related to temporary and permanent disability, medical assessment and rehabilitation activities in Belarus;

� organisation of workshops and conferences and participation in such events carried out in Belarus and abroad.
